This text is based on a lecture delivered by the author during the 3rd International Colloquium Teotopias, held at theUniversidade Católica Portuguesa (Porto campus) on November 3, 2023. It explores the thought of Eduardo Lourenço, author of O Labirinto da Saudade and Tempo e Poesia, in dialogue with Borges and some tango poets, using as a central theme the notion of saudade conceived as a labyrinth with no possible exit. Unlike these genres, folklore —and in particular the poetry of Atahualpa Yupanqui— reveals a transcendent dimension of existence, shedding light on the human condition that breaks with the fatalistic logic of saudade and invites us to overcome it.References
