POETRY AND MIRACLE

This paper explores José Lezama Lima’s poetics as a theopoetic aesthetic-operative system, where poetic creation isunderstood as a soteriological path and demiurgic act. Through the analysis of his essays and poems—particularly “Dignity ofPoetry,” “Prelude to the Imaginary Eras,” and “Death of Narcissus”—the study examines the role of symbol, image, andopacity as engines of a new poetic causality beyond hermeneutics, aimed at creating a paradisiacal temporality. For Lezama, poetry is not mimesis but a form of copulation between the human and the unconditional—a language capable of restoring paradise through the miracle of the image. His work proposes a poetic ontology in which the baroque, the esoteric, and the mystical function as active forms of knowledge and transformation.References
