Diarmuid O’Giollain, University of Notre Dame

Diarmuid Ó Giolláin's interests include popular religion in Ireland as well as folklore and popular culture in the history of ideas and of institutions. He is Professor of Irish Language and Literature and Concurrent Professor of Anthropology at University of Notre Dame. He teaches Irish Folklore with an emphasis on narrative folklore. He is Fellow of the Keough-Naughton Institute for Irish Studies of University of Notre Dame (USA). He is the author of Locating Irish Folklore: Tradition, Modernity, Identity (2000), winner of the Katherine Briggs Folklore Prize 2000, and An Dúchas agus an Domhan (2005), as well as some 40 articles and papers.Los intereses de Diarmuid Ó Giolláin incluyen la religión popular en Irlanda, así como el folclore y la cultura popular en la historia de las ideas y de las instituciones. Es Profesor de Lengua y Literatura de Irlanda y profesor concurrente de Antropología de la Universidad de Notre Dame. Es profesor de folclore irlandés con énfasis en el folclore narrativo. Es miembro del Instituto Keough - Naughton de Estudios Irlandeses de la Universidad de Notre Dame (EE.UU.).
