DEL OTRO LADO DEL MAR: LA NARRATIVA DE DESARRAIGO COMO GÉNERO DISCURSIVO

This presentation is part of a broader research aimed at the characterization of narrative of uprooting as a discursive genre, from the perspective of Folklore studies. I focus on an oral testimony exposed in 2010 by David Galante, Jewish immigrant living in Buenos Aires city, and on oral and written testimonies by Vera Jarach, mother of Franca, a young student who disappeared during the Argentinean military dictatorship in 1976. One of Vera’s testimonies was exposed orally in 2002, and the two others have been registered in the book Buena memoria (Good memory) by Marcelo Brodsky (2000) as well as in the dossier of the film Il rumore della memoriaby Bechis, published in 2015. In this documental film, whose protagonist is Vera herself, she connects the experience of uprooting both with the persecution suffered by their elders in Auschwitz and with her missing daughter. The context of this work is a comparative study of oral testimonies and artistic performances dealing with rhetoric of uprooting.Downloads
