This paper analyzes the spaces in the most important novel by the German author Theodor Fontane, Effi Briest (1895), under a symbolic perspective. Different episodes of the work will be taken to conduct a study on the meanings of each of the elements that appear linked to spaces. Moreover, comments on the personality of the characters and the relationship between them and their physical space will be made.Downloads
